thankful for...
...God working in our hearts and stirring up our faith. Our family prayer over the last year could be summed up in the words of this song:
Oh, Great and Mighty One
With one desire we come
That you would reign in us
We're offering up our lives
A living sacrifice
That you would reign in us
Oh, Jesus
Come lead us
We're desperate for Your touch
We've just felt a little stagnant. Like we were maybe just getting too comfortable with the Christian walk and were not really living by faith. Not really serving God with an appropriate response to His wonderful intervention into our lives.
We were tired of our own ways and hungry more more of God. Tired of the world, thirsty for eternal drink.
Ever since our pastor taught through the book of James, I haven't been able to "shake" this verse. I feel like God has really asked us to face it. Think about it.
James 1:26-27 says:
"if anyone thinks he is religious and does not bridle his tongue but deceives his heart, this person's religion is worthless. Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world."
I look forward to talking more about how we feel God is calling us to live. For now, I am just so thankful for His coming into our hearts and changing us. Thankful for the Holy Spirit changing our hearts. Thankful he will not leave us to become stagnant. I'm so excited to be living our lives for Him. It's so much happier. Feel like life is just beginning.
