I created these two images in response to what I saw on the Oprah show yesterday. It was about the gut-wrenching truths about sexual abuse toward children and child pornography in our country. I know it is awful to face this stuff. It's been a rough day-and-a-half for me since I watched the show. But I also know that not listening to it or not talking about it does not make it go away. There are very sad things going on to babies and children. I choose to acknowledge it.

I wrote letters to my senators about a bill coming up in the next couple days that I want to be passed. Simply put, the bill would help law enforcement go after this issue. It's not hard to find, but they haven't had the means to really go out after it. Please read up on it. It is bi-partisan. Www.oprah.com makes it very easy to write a letter to your senator, too.

I know government can only do so much. And my hope is not in our government as much as it is in God. Those babies and those abusers are helpless without Christ. Helpless to change, helpless to heal, helpless to hope. So what I can really do is pray about this as well.

Since I have the platform (this blog) I thought I'd use it. Thanks for reading!

I love the pictures! Not only are they beautiful but very moving and thought-provoking. You're so right about how it is easy to just try not to think about the sad things that happen in our world today and yet how ignoring it doesn't change anything. Great post!

The photographs are amazing and quite moving. I bet you could market them and use the proceeds to help fight child abuse and abortion or to help someone adopt. While living in Texas, my friend Kelly adopted a little boy who was being abused. Thanks, Erin, for using your platform for such a worthy cause.

Thank you, you guys, for your comments. They really mean a lot on this one. Katherine, I've really been thinking about doing just that. Not sure how but it's on my heart to try and use what I have. Thank you for the encouragement!

Erin, good for you. Torrey and I started watching it because of the subject even though we are so opposed to Oprah. We could not continue past the first 15 minutes as we were both in tears. I am angered and appalled at what I saw. Good for you that you are taking a stand.
