goings on...
Ho-hum, thought I'd post an update of some things going on with us lately. Sort of been in a funk lately as I haven't really taken many pictures or felt like posting much. That's how it goes. Sometimes I have several things on my mind to post about and sometimes not so much.
Anyway, we got some exciting news at church on Sunday that our church has been donated some land for a building!! Right now we meet in a school so this is very exciting. We are under contract so assuming everything works out we shall have our very own church home in the next couple years! Seems like a long time but we have already lived in Texas for THREE years! Yikes, time flies. The very cool part about this land is the actual location. Like many suburban cities ours is in the process of building our town center into an urban-like downtown. Already in this area there is the library, city hall, pro soccer stadium, various shops and restaurants, and condos and town homes. Our church property is 1.6 acres right in the middle of this urban area!! It will be traditional-looking on the outside and the church will most likely fill all of that land and be built right up to the surrounding streets. It will be surrounded immediately by more condos and townhomes and directly across from a city park. Dru and I are excited to hopefully see our church become more diverse as we invade, if you will, the city. I hope we will attract more people and a greater variety because we are visible and in the neighborhood, rather than only those who have already researched churches online and narrowed down what they are looking for. We love our church and are so grateful for the family we have in it. So this is quite exciting for us. Now we are just in prayer for the road ahead and all that must be done for this to work out.
While we were very happy to hear this news, Sunday was also a little sad for us as we said goodbye to our friends Sean and Katie who have now moved away! I've been having a little pity party for myself that in one summer two of my bestest friends (Ruth and Katie) have moved away. Sean and Katie only lived here a short time but Dru and I got to know them pretty quickly and love them alot! We miss you guys!
In other news Dru and I are both starting school next week! We are each taking a class at the local college. Me, digital photography, him, accounting. Plugging away, man, one class at a time! Yeah, while Dru is working toward a degree I am merely pursuing an interest of mine. I can't wait, though!
Violet is also enrolled in a class herself. Every Tuesday until Christmas she will be going to KinderMusik!! It's basically a music class for toddlers. We got a heavy discount because we know the woman who teaches it in our city which is wonderful because we never could have done it otherwise! I took Violet to a free demo class that was held a few weeks ago and she LOVED IT! Singing, dancing, playing instruments...truly a whole new side of her has been birthed since that one class! I'm really looking forward to doing this class with her and having Tuesdays kind of be a special time with her since I will have to leave her for several hours to go to my photo class on Wednesdays.
Well, when I started this post the girl was down for a nap but now she is awake and into all kinds of mischief! Wanted to post a bit of an update but must get going now...
