a thousand splendid suns.

I don't usually talk about books I've read on here. Not for any reason really except that I just haven't gotten around to it. But I finished this yesterday and was so captivated. I loved it. I recently read The Kite Runner and liked it but I liked A Thousand Splendid Suns even more...it was more relatable to me as a woman and a mom I think. Anyway, if you've read this book I'd love to hear your thoughts!!

I've had my eye on that book for just forever, but I loved The Kite Runner so much I was afraid to read it... Thanks to you, I'm going to try it. You saved the day.

Ok, then you two, get back with me after you've read it. I'm itchin' to talk about it!
Do you have to read "The Kite Runner" first? I have never heard of those 2 books but I am always looking for good books to read.

Hi Jen, no, you don't have to read The Kite Runner first. The stories are unrelated, just by the same author. I'd recommend looking into the basic story line first...in some ways they are very sad, tragic stories...but they are both deeply moving stories of love and redemption that end amazingly.

Ok, I read it and I loved it. Oh my! He is a great writer. You were right when you said you couldn't put him down and how the pages flew by. I can't wait to chat about it over coffee...don't want to ruin it for those who haven't read it. Thanks for letting me borrow it!

I'm so glad you loved Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns. I truly was introduced to a different culture in the most intimate way. We saw th movie Kite Runner on New Year's eve day, I cried so hard at the end. What a redemptive ending to the sin we all share in. Thanks for sharing your delight in the reading of these two books. Love you, Gramma

Hi Gramma, I'm so glad that you commented and to hear that you have read and enjoyed these books. I'd like to see the movie...even the preview looks so powerful after reading the book...it will be hard to watch though, I know I will cry too!
