a work out, anyone?

Okay, anyone got ideas for working out with a kiddo in tow? I've been walking most days while the weather has been nice but I'd like to do more toning. I have a pilates video that is great...but for some reason I don't stick to it...something about videos, I don't know what it is...I just end up hating it. I love working out at the gym. Don't have a pass right now, but there is one going in close to us. Just afraid I won't be able to find the time to do it. Thoughts, anyone?? I know lots of you reading this have 2 or 3 or more little ones....so how do you fit it in? What kind of work out do you like to do?

You might want to check out... http://www.strollerstriders.com/

My sister did this in Virginia and loved it. She has a little boy and a little girl who are only 13 months apart and found this to be a great way to exercise, meet new people and "an excuse to get out of the house". All you need is time and a stroller.

I don't think they have one that is close but maybe you could start one! I would do it with you if you were the instructor.

Yeah, I just heard about that stoller strider thing too...should check it out myself.

And about finding the time...I have not idea...early in the morning before Drew heads out? That is what I am trying. I hate to say this, but it will only get harder the older she gets. One advantage to the gym is that they usually offer some sort of child care for moms with kiddos (the Y does I know and 24-hr). Or there is always your mom just around the corner (take advantage of that if you can...I know she'd love it!) I wish I had that option.

umm, obviously I have it all figured out. still looking at my "old jeans" and longing for them!! but, here's my little bit...when she's older and watches the wiggles, I'll let you borrow my tapes. if you do everything the wiggles do, it is a 40 min workout that kills, but involves dancing with your girl, who won't be the only one who appreciates it! HA!

Oh boy, Erin, I have trouble working out and I don't have any kids AND I have a gym at my apartment! (the problem is, I also have a love for sleep and alot of excuses!) You're my hero---glad you get to figure it out first and then I can just learn from you! ;-)

Mmmmmm, my idea of exercise? It does take a lot of effort to comfy on the couch to watch a favorite reality TV show. I sometimes even break a sweat getting the pillows just right & having to reach for my drink on the coffee table... Let me know how that works out for you. ;)

Chasing after 22 six-year-olds every day keeps me in tip-top shape (not!) but the Work-Out-With-the-Wiggles regimen sounds like a winner!! hee hee

Okay...I did a little research and found something similar in the area.

www.strollerfit.com

It is at Stonebriar Mall. Check out the website for times and days. Maybe a couple of us could get together and join???

BTW..."The Wiggles" are definitely a work-out!!!

I have yet to get back this time but with my two boys I found that getting up at 5 am doing devos and hitting gym or walking up the mountain at 6 am was my best bet. Aaron was home to watch them. Usually they were asleep...I say usually because some mornings they woke up. I tried the YMCA with child care for awhile but just when I would get in a groove one of my boys would get sick and we couldn't use childcare and I would get all off again. Plus once the day got going I would find excuses or run out of time. I use to be a personal trainer and found that for the most part clients that worked out in the AM lost more weight and stuck with the program. And for me personally it works better. Good luck. IF you decide to do the am I will be up with you soon. Just waiting for Adelee to get a little bigger and be on more of a feeding schedule that I can make it work.

Erin,

Curves is fun, but you do have to leave the house. :)
Walking and videos are good.
The gym is the what I have been most consistent with IF I am being consistent.
Good luck!!!
Oh, and I agree with Bethany, getting up early is the easiest way to be most consistent.

do you have a two story house? sometimes when i don't feel like leaving my house (which is stupid with the Y being in walking distance!) i set my microwave timer for 15 min and run (or just walk) up and down the stairs. sounds wierd . . . it is! but it aint easy!
